On 8 September, The Queen opened the “World Forum Against Drugs" in Stockholm. Representatives from 82 different countries gathered to discuss the theme, "100 years of drug prevention".
On the afternoon of the same day, The Queen gave the opening speech at the international hotel group "World Hotels Leadership Forum" in Stockholm. Over 100 hotel managers from the world´s biggest hotels were gathered.
Council of Europe conference On 9 September, The Queen spoke at the official opening of the Council of Europe´s conference, "Building a Europe for and with children towards a strategy for 2009- 2011" . The conference was organised by the Swedish government and the Council of Europe. Other speakers at the opening included Minister for Health and Social Affairs Göran Hägglund, Minister for Justice Beatrice Ask, and the Council of Europe´s Deputy Secretary General, Maud de Boer-Buquicchio.
The focus of the conference was on highlighting endeavours to create a more child-friendly Europe, and to taking strong measures to tackle child abuse.
